WORKSHOP MANAGER - RUMION FARM
Rumion Farm is located in the fertile and lush Markham Valley of Morobe Province. Rumion Farm is PNG's largest producer of pigs with a population of around 12,000 head. In addition Rumion has a beef heard of 4,000 cattle and also grows Corn (maize) exclusively for stock feed. The machinery required to efficiently support all farm activities is a sizeable fleet of 50, inlcuding Vehicles and Transport Equipment,Tractors and Heavy Machinery, Harvesting Equipment, Planting and Tillage Equipment, Maintenance and Utility Equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Plan and organize preventive maintenance activities for each piece of vehicle, machinery and mechanical equipment of the farm operation.
- Establish safety rules and regulations for the safety of staff and subordinates in the Workshop and implement company policies directed by the General Manager.
- Responsible for the requisition of spare parts needed for the maintenance of all vehicles, machinery and mechanical equipment and ensure accountability of all spare parts replacements as well as consumables.
- Supervise the checking of all vehicles, machinery and equipment upon completion of the day’s work to ensure that they are running well or carry out immediate repairs of minimal malfunctions or organize overhaul of the same if necessary.
Administration
- Liaise with the Financial Controller and subordinates for any goods requirements and acquisition and assist in verification of expenditures due for payment.
- Prepare monthly reports of accomplishments and whatever problems and recommendations to the General Manager.
- Ensure that Workshop building and equipment maintenance is carried out where necessary.
- Evaluate development of national understudies and recommend for promotion.
- Carry out other relevant duties as required by the General Manager or Management Committee
Human Resources & Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
- Effectively oversee all employee matters including but not limited to training and development, employee levels, performance management and address in accordance with Company Policy as required.
- Ensure OHS Standards, Polices, Practices and Procedures are strictly adhered to at the workplace and take appropriate remedial action as required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
- Mechanical Engineering or Trade School graduate or its equivalent is essential.
- Technical know-how of modern machinery and equipment.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the same field, including at least five (5) years in a managerial level.
- Leadership - Ability to lead with ethics and integrity and and motivate a team.
- Organizational Skills-Keeping track of schedules, materials, and tasks to ensure the workshop runs smoothly
- Communication- Clear and effective communication with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving- Quickly identifying and resolving issues that arise during the workshop.
- Time Management: Efficiently managing time to ensure all tasks are completed within deadlines.
- Safety Awareness: Ensuring all safety protocols are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Budget Management: Managing finances/resources, including budgeting for parts and consumables.
- Adaptability: Being flexible and able to adjust plans as needed to accommodate changes or unexpected challenges.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Class 1, 3 and 7 Driver’s license are required to drive all types of farm vehicles.
