Consort Express Lines under Steamships Trading Company is in search of a proven, capable and results-driven individual for the position of a Vessel Planner to ensure safe stowage of cargo whilst seeking to optimize vessel utilization and increase productivity.

Role Description

This is a full-time role based in Lae, Morobe Province. As a Vessel Planner, your primary responsibilities are as follows;

• Assist the vessel in planning the loading and discharging of containers and break bulk to ensure that all stability criteria meet IMO regulations and to ensure efficient loading.
• Work closely with shore operations and fleet management to ensure an effective overall terminal planning is maintained to high standards and maximum productivity.
• Liaise with booking teams, agents and customers to obtain cargo and stowage information so that planning can take place in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensure high risk or dangerous cargos are handled correctly as per safety regulations.
• Ensure that all service providers are operating within the safety guidelines and Steamships requirements.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 3years or more experience in vessel/port operations or stevedoring duties
• Experience with coastal vessels including tugs and landing craft
• Experience working to tight deadlines, under pressure and difficult conditions.
• Experience with cargo documentation management platform, such as Cargo wise, softship.

• Qualifications and Key Competencies
• Minimum certificate as Deck Officer of the Watch (OOW)
• Chief Officer Ranking and sailing time.
• High level of planning & organizational skills
• Good verbal & written communication skills in English
• Computer literate
