About the role

Work with the management team to ensure suitable Health & Safety support is available to the site. And oversee daily operations of the HS team, including development plans for everyone.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• This role will require:

  • • Focus on Safety culture and behavioral programs with the aim of continuous improvement.
    • Roll out of Safety culture and behavioral programs site wide.
    • Reviewing current day to day processes and suggesting improvement.
    • Produce report on progress on behavioral improvement programs.
    • Integrate VFLS/VLS into current SMS programs.
    • Part takes in meetings.
    • Understudy HSS Manager.
  • Assist with the longer-term development of the site including but not limited to planning, budgeting, development of training material, Procedures, continuous improvement of our current practices.
  • Providing effective and timely support and advice to the HSS team, and the wider workforce including Managers.
  • Act as the lead point-of-contact for HSS matters when the HSS Manager is offsite including all reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including conducting safety meetings, contractor safety meetings, safety Representative meetings and inspections leading up to MRA quarterly visits.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have a tertiary qualification in relevant field with a minimum of 4 years’ experience as Safety Superintendent in Mining, Oil or Gas Industry. In addition to this, you will have most or all of the following.

• Ability to work within a framework of Plans, Standards and Procedures and implement these.
• Experience with auditing safety reports.
• Trained in incident investigation, preferably ICAM.
• Exposure and experience with Emergency Response teams processes.
• Current First Aid qualification.
• Ability to develop and deliver training material if and when required.
• High level of computer literacy.
