About the role

The Safety Officer for Projects is responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations and procedures are followed during the execution of the stage 3 expansion for Kainantu Gold Mine. This role is a crucial role in preventing accidents and incidents, protecting the health and safety of employees, contractors and maintaining compliance with Papua New Guinea’s safety laws and regulations.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Ensuring the continuous improvement of, safety inspections, safety training and compliance.
• Maintain a safe work environment for all K92 employees, visitors and contractors through audits, inspections, and training.
• Ensure all incidents are fully investigated and recorded within the site safety data base in a timely and accurate manner.
• Conduct scheduled, weekly, monthly safety audits and checks project wide.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must have a Degree or Diploma in Health and Safety / Environment Health from a recognized institution or equivalent. You must have at least 5 years’ experience in occupational health and safety in a mining environment and must be well-versed experience in project safety management. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

• Training and assessment qualification and experience
• Completion of accredited fire training.
• Current first aid certificate
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong planning and organization skills.
