The Company

Our client is a leading civil construction company that has been operating within PNG for more than 50 years. The company takes pride in its longstanding history and its esteemed reputation for consistently delivering civil construction projects on time and within the budget.

The Role

The construction company is currently looking for a Project Civil Engineer / QA to be based in Port Moresby. You will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing various aspects of engineering projects from conception to completion. The incumbent will report directly to Project Manager and is responsible for planning, execution and delivering projects within the specified timeframe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and requirements, while developing comprehensive project plans encompassing timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and manage project activities to ensure adherence to plans and schedules, monitoring progress, identifying and resolving issues, and mitigating risks to guarantee project delivery within defined parameters.
  • Allocate and optimise resources, such as personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project requirements, while coordinating with diverse teams and departments to ensure efficient resource utilisation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, reviewing engineering designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, encompassing cost estimation, tracking, and control, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing measures to optimize project expenditures.
Qualification and skills
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, accompanied by 3-5 years of experience, showcasing expertise in project management, particularly within a construction industry.
  • Possess strong technical proficiency in engineering principles and practices, alongside expertise with project management software and tools for scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Exhibit exceptional organisational and multitasking capabilities, enabling the efficient prioritisation and management of multiple projects concurrently, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively address project-related challenges.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, facilitating collaboration with diverse stakeholders and the establishment of solid working relationships, while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality work within specified deadlines.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards, with the potential advantage of possessing professional certifications in project management, such as PMP.
  • Preference: PNG Citizens
