About the Role

Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for providing the support, guidance, and advice necessary to achieve a safe work environment and developing a positive safety culture.

This is a 28/28 FIFO role based at Agogo Plant Facility.

Accountabilities for this position are:

• Lead the implementation of HSES management systems policies, procedures, directives, and safe systems of work through the coaching and mentoring of line supervisors, general workforce.
• Promote and facilitate the application of various risk assessment tools in accordance with the Santos Risk Management Procedure.
• Provide necessary assistance to achieve timely and effective notification, reporting and investigations into incidents to identify root causes, contributing factors and develop corrective actions to address system deficiencies to prevent future recurrences.
• Provide support to Production Operations and when necessary, Contractors in the areas of: HSES Systems development, compliance, and document bridging; HSES management planning implementation and review; incident investigation and continual improvement processes to manage risks/hazards and improve HSES Performance.
• Demonstrate a high level of personal commitment to the “Always Safe Operations” and be a HSES Group meeting facilitator.
• Provide ongoing assistance to develop HSES related training programs to meet approved Competency Based Training Framework Standards.

About You

• Proficient experience in a similar HSE role in Oil and Gas or heavy industry.
• A current PNG driving licence.
• Solid understanding of applicable Workplace Health and Safety Legislation, Gas & Petroleum Legislation, Rules, Regulations and Guidelines.
• Sound working knowledge of Safety Management Systems development, administration.
• Competent in Auditing and Investigation including report compiling.
• Competent in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Access Database, Excel minimum)
• Demonstrable Project Management, Incident Investigation & Risk Management Techniques
• Excellent written and verbal communication & presentation skills/experience
• Fluency in Tok Pisin and ability to speak or desire to learn Huli language

You must have a Certificate 4 in Work Health & Safety, or PNG equivalent. Ideally you would also have a Certificate 4 – Workplace Training and Assessment.
