Newmont APAC Operations are located in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, New South Wales and Papua New Guinea, with roles in operations, projects, corporate support and exploration. APAC Business Unit Support is provided from our offices in Brisbane, Subiaco and Melbourne.

About the opportunity:

Reporting to the Head of People - APAC, you will bring your strong influencing experience and drive to identify Business Unit (BU) and site-specific learning programs, needs, content, and facilitation.

A core focus of the role will be to:

  • Lead the identification and customisation of site-specific technical learning programs.
  • Ensure technical training governance and compliance.
  • Develop annual technical training plans based on the Workforce Plan (WFP).
  • Compliance based analysis of training success against critical safety objectives.

Your impact, contribution and key responsibilities will be to:
  • Consult with enterprise Learning team to highlight localisation needs that should be considered for training that requires a global standard and is developed at enterprise.
  • Define and create BU and site-specific learning programs from conducting needs assessments, to developing content through to facilitation.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and define areas that need tailoring and customisation.
  • Drive technical training governance, inclusive of audits, and compliance to regulatory standards.
  • Create Technical training annual plan based on the training gap analysis and compliance frameworks.
  • Apply for and lead government certification funding.
  • Apply Newmont’s Learning Management System to track and monitor learning and technical training programs.
  • Collaborate closely with enterprise Talent and Learning teams, enterprise Inclusion, Diversity & Equity, site People team members and site training team to understand and plan as per business needs.
  • Lead the resourcing of training programs for the BU with capable facilitators and ensure the effective facilitation of all programs.
  • Act as Newmont’s industry representative in technical training forums and collaboration events.
  • Advise on the individual and team capabilities and skills required of professionals in training roles.

About You:

You will be a highly experienced and self-sufficient Principal Training practitioner who will own the process, drive value and seek out opportunities for continuous improvement.

You’ll also have:

  • Proven experience working in a related role where you have implemented the development of site specific and technical training learning programs at Frontline, Superintendent and Manager levels.
  • Experience with training Program development, Technical training governance, Compliance management, and funding management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Learning Management Systems.
  • Familiar with training management systems and funding processes.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory compliance and to undertake technical training customisation.
  • Identify practical application proficiency in training program development and regulatory compliance that best supports these activities within Newmont.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, Training and Development, Human Resources, Business, Communications, Organisational Development or Psychology is highly desirable.
  • Strong influencing, consultation and communication skills for partnering cross functionally with Leaders and Stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and facilitation skills to drive and deliver learning programs.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must be able to complete a National Police Check & Navex Risk Rate Screening.

Location and working conditions

This role will be based at our Brisbane Hub, working in a hybrid manner. This role may require some to travel to Newmont sites within the APAC region and potentially Newmont corporate offices.
