PORGERA | TRADESPERSON – TURBINE FITTER – HIDES MECHANICAL

Reporting to the Power Station Maintenance Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for installation, commissioning and maintenance of all mechanical power generation and associated ancillary equipment, to enable delivery of safe, competitive, power generation to PJV mining operations.

The ideal candidate must have:

• A recognized Trade Certificate in Diesel/ Heavy Equipment Fitting
• 3 years’ experience as an Indentured Tradesman
• Experience on diesel power generation and fixed plant equipment maintenance
• The ability to read and interpret documents, Maintenance manuals, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions
• Excellent communication skills, sound technical, planning and organization skills
• Previous maintenance experience on large diesel generator sets, specifically CAT 3600
• Previous maintenance experience on gas turbine generator Sets, specifically Solar Mars 100 and Titan 130
• Possess advanced computer literacy
• Trained and competent in Caterpillar services information system (SIS)
• Previous experience working in the mining and or power generation industry in Papua New Guinea

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify risks & hazards in the work area and using the correct controls
• Carries out task as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor for the general operation and maintenance of the power station Maintenance Section
• Ability to sort priorities and take action in a reasonable time frame
• Willing to move to another Maintenance Area when required to assist with work load
• Ensure preventative maintenance system compliance to support reduction in equipment damage and improvements in reliability
• Implement correct isolation procedures for relevant equipment to comply with Safety Standards
• Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant PJV policies & procedures.

Mobilization Requirement

• This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
• Rotation is FIFO, 21 days on and 14 days off
• Must have an up-to-date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
