The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Officer – Aviation Dispatch, Transportation

About the role

Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Aviation Dispatch Officer is to coordinate and manage all flight operations at Kairik and Helipad to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely movement of aircraft. This includes planning flight routes, monitoring weather conditions, maintaining communication with pilots, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, and coordinating with ground services to support smooth operational workflows and ensure all records of services provided are maintained on a daily basis. The Aviation Dispatch Officer acts as a key liaison between flight crews and ground operations, providing critical information and support to ensure the safety and efficiency of all NPL aviation activities.

In this role, you will;

  • Coordinate daily flight schedules to ensure timely departures for all personnel.
  • Manage aircraft movements and communication through radio channels.
  • Promptly communicate any potential delays or issues with relevant personnel to minimize disruptions.
  • Monitor weather conditions, providing timely updates to tower operators and flight crews.
  • Address passenger inquiries and issues professionally, ensuring satisfaction and effective resolution of concerns.
  • Oversee ground handling operations and supervise associated staff.
  • Accurately review and process invoices, back-charges, and financial calculations.
  • Enforce aviation safety protocols, procedures, and standards at the Helipad and Kairik Airport.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with PJV’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences

  • A minimum of Grade 12 level or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in aircraft dispatch or aviation operations.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure, both independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Dangerous Goods Certificate -Essential
  • Aviation Fuel Handling Certificate -Essential
  • First Aid Certificate -Essential
  • Load Master/Longing Certificate – Desirable but not necessary
  • Current PNG Driver’s License -Essential
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
