A Network Support Technician, responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure for both internal systems and client networks. Provide technical support, ensure network security, and assist in optimizing network performance. This role requires a strong understanding of networking technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-service-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Installation & Maintenance: Set up, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks for both in-house and client networks.
Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, internet outages, and hardware/software failures. Provide remote and onsite support as needed.
Security & Compliance: Monitor and implement security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and antivirus software, to protect networks from cyber threats.
Performance Monitoring: Use network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG) to identify and address network bottlenecks and ensure uptime.
Client Support: Provide technical assistance to clients, resolving IT-related issues related to networking, VoIP systems, and cloud connectivity.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, troubleshooting logs, and system documentation.
Upgrades & Patching: Assist in updating network hardware and software, including firmware updates and security patches.
Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and cybersecurity professionals to enhance overall IT infrastructure.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
Experience with enterprise networking equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, etc.).
Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments.
Knowledge of cloud-based networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced IT environment.
Strong attention to detail and documentation.
