About the role

Assist Senior Mining Engineer Operations to provide medium, long term and or strategic mine planning including underground mining optimization. (Design, production scheduling, cost estimations, project management, underground expansion studies and administration of the computerized dispatch system and provide maintenance and support required, and mentor junior mining engineers)

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Effectively administer the computerised mine dispatch system including management of disk space, system set-up parameters and back-up of daily data to optimise all functions of the system.
• Effectively maintain the dispatch system to ensure that all elements are working correctly including reporting and communications functions.
• Provide supervision, training, coaching and support for all personnel who utilise the dispatch system including the dispatch operators, in accordance with individual requirements and departmental training plans.
• Ensure effective processes for communicating relevant information, including company, site, department, and team performance, to all team members are in place.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must have a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering with three plus (3+) years’ experience in a similar role. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

• Strong computer skills with mine design (Surpac) and scheduling programs (Deswik).
• Sound knowledge of safe mining practices and standards in an underground Narrow Vein Mine.
• Ventilation and blasting design experience and have a working knowledge of geotechnical aspects impacting designs and operations.
• Experience in underground operations planning and managing infrastructure servicing the mining function.
