We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Legal - Litigation to join our Legal team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will oversee the company’s litigation matters, provide strategic legal guidance, manage external counsel, and ensure effective case management. Your role includes preparing for trials, representing the company in court when needed, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOUR EXPERIENCE

Consult with Head of Legal

  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Head of Legal on all litigation and other legal matters.
  • Review litigation cases, determine case strategies and make recommendations to the Head of Legal on the appropriate case strategies to be utilised to progress litigation matters.

Litigation Management

  • Oversee all litigation and dispute resolution matters involving the company.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to protect the company’s interests.
  • Prepare and review court related legal documents.
  • Represent the company in court, tribunals, and alternative dispute resolution forums when required.
  • Work closely with external legal counsel, providing instructions and reviewing legal opinions.

Case Management & Documentation

  • Maintain a database of all litigation cases, ensuring proper documentation and tracking and submit monthly reports to the Head of Legal.
  • Monitor case progress and ensure timely submission of required documents.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather evidence and prepare case materials.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, courts, and legal bodies as necessary.

Stakeholder & External Counsel Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and external legal counsel.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with law firms, ensuring cost-effective legal representation.
  • Negotiate settlements and dispute resolutions in the company’s best interests.

Legal Advisory & Risk Mitigation

  • Provide legal advice to the Head of Legal Department and business units on potential legal and operational risks.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Review contracts, agreements, and policies in consultation with Manager Legal - Contracts to identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
  • Ensure company operations comply with applicable laws and regulations

Compliance & Reporting

  • Keep the company informed of changes in laws and regulations affecting litigation and the industry.
  • Develop and implement policies to reduce litigation risks in consultation with the Head of Legal Department.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on legal and operational risks to the Head of Legal Department & Company Secretary.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOUR BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s degree in law
  • Must be a current Practicing Lawyer
  • Minimum of 5-7 years related work experience.
  • Previous experience in litigation/contract/regulatory matters within finance and banking industry is advantageous.
