The Role In this newly created position of
Manager, Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This is an exciting opportunity to lead month-end processes, collaborate with senior leadership, and mentor a high-performing team while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
You will own the preparation of monthly internal management reports, work closely with the Regulatory Reporting team, and lead the general ledger processes. Your contributions will have a direct impact on business decisions and the continued growth of this leading institution.
Key Responsibilities - Financial Reporting: Assist the Financial Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual returns. Take full responsibility for internal management reporting.
- Day-to-Day Operations: Manage management reporting, regulatory reporting, accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations, and head office reporting.
- Month-End Procedures: Lead month-end accounting duties, including journal entries and reconciliations, and ensure timely and accurate month-end closures.
- Financial Analysis: Prepare and review daily balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, risk metrics, and capitalisation of work-in-progress (WIP) assets.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting officers and analysts, driving a culture of learning and development.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support audits, tax returns, business case development, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- A Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
- CPA preferred, with in-depth knowledge of accounting standards.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the Big 4 and/or banking sector.
- Proven experience conducting audits in the banking sector, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Strong expertise in balance sheet management, financial statement preparation, and GL reconciliations, with the ability to analyse complex financial data.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word) and strong computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial data clearly.
- High attention to detail, particularly in financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage independent workloads, and provide excellent customer service.
