Steamships Limited is in search of a proven, capable, and results-driven individual to oversee all IT support services, ensuring excellent user experience and seamless functionality of technology systems for Steamships Limited.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an IT Technical Support Analyst located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the IT Technical Manager. The IT Technical Support Analyst will primarily be responsible for:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution of hardware, software, and network-related concerns.
  • Deliver outstanding user support, providing guidance on the use of IT systems and tools to enhance productivity.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support activities, assets, and system configurations to ensure operational transparency and continuity.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Requires travel from one job site to another
  • Responsible in the administration, maintenance of the File Server, DNS, DHCP, DMS, CargoPRO, DepotPRO Server and Virtualization.
  • Responsible in maintaining user accounts in AD, DMS, CargoPRO, DepotPRO Server and Virtualization.
  • Responsible in the installation, setup, configuration, and deployment of File Server, DNS, DHCP, CargoPRO, DepotPRO, DMS
  • Providing Technical Support for Windows 10 and Windows 11 Professional Edition Operating System
  • Providing Technical Support for Microsoft Office 365
  • Providing Technical Support for any Windows and Application Software (Utility and Standard Software) issues.
  • Provides IT Technical Support for PC/Laptop Systems hardware and software configuration, diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, and configuring systems at a Windows Level.
  • Deploying, monitoring and user support for Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File Server, Virtual Environment, Application, and Standards
  • Configuration of Standalone or Network Printers and user support
  • Responsible in building PCs and Laptops, and installation of Windows Desktop OS and STC Standards on PCs and Laptops.
  • Responsible for ensuring the equipment is properly set up and effectively used
  • Configure email and scanning on Multi-Function Printers
  • Ensure all tasks allocated by the IT Technical Support Supervisor are completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitoring PRTG
  • Responsible for Customer Service, troubleshooting, and assisting users with Technical Solutions
  • Prepare and present reports for hardware/software installations and project status to immediate Team Lead

Required Experience

  • At least 3 Years working experience as an IT Technical Support Technician
  • Working knowledge and experience of a range of diagnostic utilities and a general knowledge of technology and an ability to utilize technological devices effectively.
  • Working knowledge and experience with:

- Basic computer hardware and software;

- Desktop operating systems including Windows 10 and Windows 11;

- Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2022;

- SQL ,FSRM, ADFS, Azure AD, DHCP, TCP/IP topology and methodology; and

- Active Directory, Group Policy, Security, DNS, and DHCP.

Qualification and Key Competencies

  • Degree in IT and/or Computer Science
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
  • Microsoft Products like Office 365, Windows OS, Group Policy
  • Microsoft Certification (MCITP, MCSA)
