Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented IT Asset Technician to join our team. As an IT Asset Technician, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization's IT assets, including hardware, software, and equipment. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills, and a meticulous approach to asset tracking and inventory management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. IT Asset Management:
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals.
    • Perform regular audits to ensure proper asset documentation, including asset tagging, labeling, and asset tracking records.
    • Monitor asset usage, track asset movements, and maintain up-to-date records of asset locations and assignments.
    • Coordinate with procurement and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate asset procurement, tracking, and retirement.
  2. Hardware and Software Deployment:
    • Assist in the installation, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software assets.
    • Conduct quality checks on new IT equipment and perform initial setup and configuration.
    • Install and update software applications, operating systems, and patches as needed.
    • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure proper allocation and utilization of IT assets across the organization.
  3. Asset Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Perform regular maintenance tasks on IT assets, such as cleaning, updates, and upgrades.
    • Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs, warranty claims, and service agreements.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and provide timely resolution or escalate problems to appropriate teams.
    • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and track software usage to prevent unauthorized installations.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of asset-related processes, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Generate reports on asset utilization, maintenance activities, and compliance status.
    • Provide regular updates on asset inventory, procurement, and retirement to management and relevant stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the development of asset management policies and procedures.
  5. User Support and Training:
    • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users regarding IT asset-related inquiries and issues.
    • Educate users on proper handling and care of IT assets.
    • Conduct training sessions or create user documentation to promote awareness and understanding of asset management best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT asset management, inventory control, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems and tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Sober habits and professional conduct.
  • Basic understanding of ITIL principles is a plus.
