The Papua New Guinea University of Technology is seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Librarian to lead the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) section.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Librarian
This role is essential to ensuring patrons have access to information resources beyond the local collection by coordinating borrowing and lending between libraries. The ideal candidate will oversee the daily operations of the ILL section, manage ILL requests, and maintain strong communication with partner libraries, all while supporting the university's research and educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Interlibrary Loan department, ensuring efficient processing of ILL requests.
- Manage incoming and outgoing ILL requests, ensuring accurate bibliographic information and coordination with lending and borrowing libraries.
- Provide guidance and support to patrons on ILL requests and troubleshoot any issues.
- Maintain and update the ILL management system to ensure accurate transaction of records.
- Establish agreements with libraries and consortia for resource sharing and improve access to materials.
- Supervise, train, and mentor ILL staff, ensuring high standards of service.
- Monitor and evaluate ILL service quality, addressing issues promptly to maintain excellence in collaboration with reader services.
- Manage the ILL section budget, including cost-effective solutions and negotiation of subscription fees and charges.
- Foster strong relationships with partner libraries and consortia, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Collect and analyze data to improve ILL services and provide insights for decision-making to the library management.
- Stay up-to-date with technological advancements in ILL services and implement new tools to enhance efficiency.
- Resolve disputes and address any issues related to ILL transactions.
- Promote ILL services to library patrons and staff to increase awareness and usage.
- Collaborate with collection development teams to address gaps in the library's collection based on ILL request trends.
- Ensure compliance with copyright laws, licensing agreements, and other legal requirements related to ILL services.
- Contribute to the development of library ILL policies and strategic goals.
- Perform weekend and evening shifts duties
- Perform any other tasks as directed by the Deputy University Librarian
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's qualification in Librarianship or a related field (preferred).
- A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in a library setting, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role managing Interlibrary Loan services.
- Proven experience in managing ILL systems, with a strong focus on customer service and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Conditions of Service
Senior Librarian PGK53,147 - PGK64,958 per annum
Domestic Market Allowance PGK8,681 - PGK12,687 per annum
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
