About the role

Reporting to the Manager - Environment, the incumbent is responsible for studying subsurface water formations. The work involves understanding how water interacts with rocks and soil, ensuring water safety, and contributing to sustainable water management and use.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

  • Conduct fieldwork by visiting construction or manufacturing sites to collect water samples and perform analyses.
  • Monitor water quality and distribution, assessing factors like contamination and natural baseflows in rivers and wetland ecosystems.
  • Provide expert guidance on groundwater flow, surface water dynamics, and well design.
  • Offer expert advice on water-related projects such as dams, bridges, irrigation systems, and flood protection services.
  • Contribute to policy development related to water protection and management.
  • Collaborate with government agencies to create policies that safeguard water supplies and prevent contamination.
  • Helps ensure sustainable water resources for human consumption and environmental health.
  • Ensure project activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards.

About You

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience and be able to offer expert advice on obtaining, sustainable use and management of water resource. In addition to this, you will have some or all the following.

  • Degree or equivalent tertiary qualifications in Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geography, or closely related disciplines.
  • Strong operational background with demonstrated ability to bring projects to completion on time and on budget.
  • Initiative-taking with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
