We are seeking to recruit a Superintendent - Health, Hygiene & Medical within our Safety, Health Security & Risk (SHSR) Department. Reporting to the SHSR Manager, the primary responsibility of this role is to oversees the occupational healthcare services on site including emergency response, day clinic and health management systems. . This position is critical in supporting the health and wellbeing of all site personnel, with a core focus on health risk management
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the highest possible level of patient care, patient para-medical support, occupational health, hygiene practices, customer service, business planning and effective management of resources.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements through observation, auditing and facilitating corrective actions as required and remain abreast of key industry / regulatory developments at all times.
- Facilitate off-site international and national medical evacuations as required and ensure that the system is regularly audited and complies with the Hidden Valley Medical Management Plan.
- Drive operational excellence in health, hygiene and medical management practices through proactive engagement, guidance and support.
- Conduct / facilitate accurate health, hygiene and medical management statistic reporting as required.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to health, hygiene and medical personnel.
- Ensure clinic facilities and services are maintained at the highest level of operational standards including staffing, equipment and client support services.
- Present information to employees on healthy lifestyle (alcohol, drugs, smoking, diet, weight control, exercise, etc.) or other health-related topics (blood pressure, cholesterol and heart disease, communicable diseases, etc.).
- Engagement and management of internal and external specialised consultants as appropriate for independent health, hygiene and medical management audits.
- Ensure completion of daily, weekly, quarterly and annual audits and reviews to validate that health, hygiene and medical management is compliant and effective to plan.
- Monitor budget cost variance and take action in a timely manner to ensure that these costs operate within budgetary constraints and ensure consistent application of company policies in this regard.
- Monitor the performance and development of the health, hygiene and medical personnel, oversee recruitment decisions, applying performance management practices and implementing training programs.
- Complete any other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Para-medicine or related certification
- Occupational Hygiene Monitoring qualification / training and experience essential
- Certificate IV Workplace Trainer & Assessor or Diploma in Training & Assessment Systems.
- Current Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Certificate (PHTLS) or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years relevant cross-sectional industry experience in health, hygiene and medical management with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Competency in Emergency Trauma Management and experience essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge in health, hygiene and medical management legislation and best practice standards
