We are seeking to recruit a Safety Supervisor for our Safety, Health, Security & Risk - Safety Department. Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, the successful applicant will assist the Hidden Valley Safety Superintendent in maintaining a fit for purpose Safety Management System aligned to operational requirements. Provide ongoing visible leadership with respect to safety, support others to comply, hold others to account and be the key driver of a "Working Safely" culture.

Key roles and responsibilities include:
• Identify and recommend best practice initiatives to reduce risk, raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements through observation, auditing and facilitating corrective actions as required and remain abreast of key industry / regulatory developments at all times.
• Implement and monitor compliance with the Hidden Valley safety standards through safety interactions, observations and inspections.
• Support the Critical Control Verification process to ensure all risks are identified and effectively controlled.
• Maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure own behaviour is aligned with the Company Values at all times and inspire others to align with this framework also.
• Lead decision making, whilst ensuring that team members are empowered to make decisions on issues within their competency.
• Monitor decision quality, checking for adherence to policies and standards, and coach for improvement.
• Conduct checks, stress tests and audits (as part of a cycle of continuous review and improvement) to verify that safety management policies, plans, procedures and strategies are in place, effective and compliant with all Company and relevant regulatory requirements and achieved the stated goals and objectives.
• Identify and recommend best practice initiatives to improve safe practices and strategies.
• Facilitate and assist conduct internal audits, place workplace inspections, behavioural observations and job observations to assess conformance to Safety Management Systems.
• Coach and mentor safety officers and department supervisors to improve their understanding and implementation of Safety Management Systems.
• Facilitate and assist team based risk assessments where identified and required.
• Complete any other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
• Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety
• Certified ICAM Investigation Facilitator and relevant experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years OHS knowledge and experience in the Mining or Heavy Industry
• Sound knowledge and understanding of PNG Mines (Safety) Act and Regulation and OHS Duty of Care
• High level of user competency with the Microsoft Office programs including, Excel, PowerPoint, Word,
Outlook and Teams.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities in leading and providing guidance and support to Safety Officers
• Adequate knowledge and ability to facilitate and lead team incident investigations using ICAM, Root Cause Analysis or Sequence of Event processes
• Sound knowledge in understanding and implementing Safety Management Systems
• High level of planning, communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
• Confident speaker, Self-motivated Team Player with the ability to lead & motivate the team.
• Valid class 6 PNG Drivers Licence

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based
