JOB PURPOSE

Plan, lead and drive Health and Safety across the business to ensure that G4S meets its ambition of operating with zero harm, putting people and safety first every day whilst we safeguard customers and communities.

The incumbent works in collaboration with managers, supervisors, staff and stakeholders to proactively identify, review, evaluate incidents, investigations and audits to mitigate risk and meet the company’s objectives and targets. The position is also required to facilitate information exchange and communication between the key stakeholders and staff, to ensure systems and reporting is accurately maintained for evaluation and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Shapes the direction of H&S in the country by ensuring that Regional and International H&S ambition, expectations and requirements are translated into local implementation plans, programs and operational controls
• Provides the leadership team with accurate and risk based direction on safe and compliant delivery
• Supports the business in customer engagement - both proactive in winning business and ensuring G4S standards are understood and recognized and reactive when challenges arise
• Represents the business at Regional and International level, ensuring two way passage of information
• Develops and implements programs to support the overall improvement of H&S standards
• Leads serious incident investigations, root cause analysis and the development of action plans
• Provides direction on organizational capability to ensure safe and compliant operation of the business
• Ensures that G4S service delivery “red lines” are clearly defined and understood in service development and contract mobilization
• Ensures local standards, policies and SOPs reflect International requirements and take into account local legislation, custom, practice, culture and risk profile are considered in implementation
• Develops, and where necessary, delivers H&S training to ensure H&S execution
• Develops local tools / ensures the implementation of global / regionally provided tools and systems
• Completes assurance activities that create a clear understanding of implementation to allow for continuous improvements to be identified
• Provides the basis for and ensures that there is good communication throughout their area of the business
• Is the subject matter expert for all aspects of H&S in the business
• Researches and develops innovative solutions
• Defines, delivers and provides reports on audit programs / supports the delivery of external audits
• Develops and maintains relationships with key business stakeholders
• Coaches and directs leaders and senior managers on H&S matters
• Supports the development of and recruitment of local H&S team members (where relevant)
• Coaches and develops local H&S team members
• Measures & provides, timely & accurate, reporting of performance and activity to the relevant senior

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Knowledge

• University Degree or equivalent
• 10 Years of experience in a H&S focused role
• Risk management methodologies
• HS&E Management Systems e.g. ISO45001/ ISO 14001 / ISO9001
• Understanding of key risk areas in the security industry

Experience

• Extensive experience of building and maintaining working relationships
• Program development and implementation
• Incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action development
• Planning and project management
• Training development and delivery
