PRINTING SERVICES

Graphics Designer

The Graphics Designer is responsible for creating visually compelling designs for print and digital media, guiding the design team, and ensuring all design projects meet client specifications and quality standards. This role involves conceptualizing design ideas, executing them with precision, and collaborating with clients and the production team to ensure the timely delivery of print materials. The Graphics Designer will also mentor junior designers and oversee multiple projects from concept to completion.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality, creative designs for various print products, including brochures, banners, posters, packaging, business cards, magazines, and other marketing materials.
  • Conceptualize and execute designs based on client briefs and project requirements.
  • Ensure all designs align with brand guidelines and the latest design trends.
  • Prepare and format artwork for printing, ensuring files are print-ready.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales, marketing (PRO), and production teams to ensure a seamless transition from design to print production.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their vision, present design ideas, and make revisions based on feedback.
  • Work with the pre-press team to troubleshoot any design issues and ensure the highest quality output.
  • Lead multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising on quality.
  • Manage workflow efficiently by prioritizing tasks and ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals.
  • Oversee the quality of work produced by junior designers and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, helping them enhance their skills and grow in their roles.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and provide creative direction to the design team.
  • Stay updated on the latest design software and industry trends, and share insights with the team.
  • Review and approve final designs before they are sent to the client or to print, ensuring accuracy and adherence to the original brief.
  • Ensure that designs maintain the integrity of the brand and communicate the desired message effectively.
  • Conduct pre-press checks to ensure all files are print-ready and meet production standards.

Job Requirements

The successful candidates must have a Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field with at least 5+ years of experience of graphic design, preferably within the printing or advertising industry. She or he should have a strong portfolio demonstrating creative design capabilities, particularly in print, with a proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc,). In addition, the candidates should have a strong knowledge of printing processes and file preparation for print, excellent visual design skills with a strong portfolio showcasing creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. She or he should have the ability to lead and manage a team of designers, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and cross-functional teams, familiar with print production and pre-press processes, able to manage time and handle multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Conditions of Service

Senior Technical Officer I/II: K35, 751.00 – K49, 843.00 per annum

Domestic Market Allowance: K1, 200.00 – K1, 800.00 per annum

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
