GENERATOR SPECIALIST-LAE BASE
International Food Corporation ltd, the leading manufacture of Besta Mackerel and Tuna products in PNG and South Pacific seeking to recruit highly motivated and qualified experience individual to fill the position of Generator Specialist.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
The responsibilities of Generator Operator are to ensure the safe installation and operation of electricity generators on location to manage, balance load, distribution of power to equipment as required, ensuring that electrical circuits do not become overloaded and continue power supplies to all area without interruptions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct pre-start up checks ensuring all parameters and requirements are met for safe and efficient operation of the generator,
- Start or stop generators, auxiliary equipment, and other power plant equipment and connect or disconnect equipment from circuits,
- Adjust generator output controls to match the phase, frequency and voltage of electricity supplied to specified plants and control panels,
- Monitor, inspect and report for generator and associated auxiliary components and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems,
- Take readings from meters, gauges and charts to establish intervals and take necessary steps as necessary,
- Collect oil, water or electrolyte samples for analysis as required,
- Examine and perform the report for test power distribution,
- Inspect records and log book entries and communicate with superiors to assess operating status,
- Attend to calls, call in necessary personnel during outage and emergencies,
- Record and compile operational data, logs and reports,
- Perform routine health check, maintenance on equipment and determine types of major maintenances needed,
- Inform/Report immediately any abnormality to the superior,
- Perform the genset activity plan schedule to superior,
- Conduct the preventive/predictive for the parts/lubricant replacement, services and overhauling,
- Inspect and perform the parts, equipment and tools inventory.
- Evaluate, identify and do the parts ordering to replenish the inventory.
- Inspect safety devices on daily basis by running tests and reporting any unusual situations/abnormality,
- Conduct regular improvement plan,
- Maintain the regular communication with the superior,
- Execute daily and weekly cleaning/5S procedures, e.g. clean, dry, organize, bright/shine paint, sort, shining clean floor walls ceiling, functioning electrical appliances, shut close align panel, zero dust and tidy surroundings.
SKILLS
- 3-5 years of related experience.
- Certified Internal Combustion Engines.
- Inspect generator engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
- Knowledge of 12-24 VDC electrical systems and procedures, methods and techniques to design, install, repair and maintain generators, by-pass pumps, starters, pumps, valves, motors and gauges.
- Knowledge of diesel, gasoline, propane driven internal combustion engines.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the operation of equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations related to equipment operation, hazardous materials and other work-related precautions.
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
- Keep logs on work and issues.
- Ability to work independently and make routine decisions on the operation of the plant processes and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Knowledge of AC/DC power systems.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum grade 12 level / High school diploma.
- Electrical qualification.
- Have a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
- Electrical exposure/understanding.
- Ability to work independently and make routine decisions on the operation of the plant processes and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
