About the role
New Porgera Limited is currently seeking a Finance Business Partner in the Finance department. Reporting to the Reporting, Planning & Analysis Superintendent, the Finance Business Partner plays an important role in supporting the Finance team by performing forecasting, budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis processes to provide operational insights and financial control. The role requires close collaboration with operational departments to improve financial performance, manage costs effectively, and support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the Finance Business Partner will ensure that financial reports and submissions are completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with the company’s objectives.
In this role, your key responsibilities are:
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Develop budget, forecast and life of mine data to support strategic business planning.
- Conduct scenario analyses and financial modelling to evaluate business opportunities and risks.
- Assist in preparing executive presentations, management reporting and variance analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiencies.
- Cost Management
- Partner with operational teams to monitor and control departmental costs, ensuring adherence to budget constraints.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform detailed cost analysis to support business performance reviews.
Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with operational personnel to ensure financial forecasts are integrated into operational planning.
- Act as a trusted advisor to department managers, providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Facilitate financial review meetings with operational teams to enhance financial literacy and accountability

The ideal candidate must Possess:
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting from a recognized tertiary institution in PNG.
- CPA, ICAA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Experience and Technical Competencies:
- 5-10 years of accounting experience in a mining or similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of management accounting principles, with the ability to review and critically analyse financial data.
- Experience in preparing and analysing budgets, forecast, and financial reports.
- Proficiency in ERP financial management systems (e.g., SAP, Xeras, Oracle).
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, scenario modelling, and cost control.
