Summary

The Excavator Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the excavator in a safe and efficient manner, while adhering to safety regulations and conducting prestart inspection of equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate excavator and excavate ground, move soil, rocks, and other materials, and load dump trucks for transportation.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and inspect work areas for any hazards.
  • Conduct prestart inspection to ensure that equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions found to the maintenance team.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on the excavator, such as changing filters, lubricating parts, and checking hydraulic fluid levels.
  • Operate excavator in a safe and efficient manner, following job site rules and regulations.
  • Keep track of materials and ensure that the excavated materials are loaded into the dump trucks efficiently and safely.
  • Communicate with other personnel on site to ensure that work is coordinated effectively.
  • Keep work area clean and free of debris.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements to operate an excavator. (MUST)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating an excavator or similar equipment. (MUST)
  • Good knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to operate the excavator in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
  • Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Grade 10 and 12 or equivalent. (MUST)
  • Ability to carry out routine maintenance on the excavator and report any malfunctions found to the maintenance team.

Others

The Excavator Operator may work in various outdoor environments, including construction sites and excavation areas. The work may involve exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental factors. Travel to different job sites may be required depending on project locations.
