About the Role
The Emergency Response Coordinator will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and managing incident and emergency response plans, ensuring Santos is fully prepared and ready to act in the event of an emergency. This is a full-time position based in our Port Moresby office, with occasional travel requirements.
Please note this role may require on-call availability and extended hours in the case of emergencies/incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Planning & Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Organize and lead emergency drills and training sessions for staff and stakeholders.
- Maintain Incident response room setup and equipment including rosters
Incident/Emergency Response & Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact during emergencies, assisting with the coordinating response efforts.
- Work collaboratively with first responders, government agencies, and other relevant entities.
- Ensure timely communication with stakeholders during Incidents.
Training & Awareness:
- Arrange and facilitate training programs to staff on emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Foster a culture of preparedness and resilience across the organization.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and response actions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to emergency management.
- Produce post-incident reports and evaluations to improve future response efforts.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in emergency planning, disaster response, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of emergency response protocols, risk assessment, and crisis management.
- Ability to stay calm and decisive under pressure.
- Familiarity with incident command systems (ICS), Australian Incident Management System (AIIMS)), or other relevant frameworks is a plus.
