About the Role This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to
build a modern, data-driven retail credit risk management function from the ground up. As the Credit Strategy & Analytics Manager, you will lead a small team focused on modernising retail credit risk methodologies, frameworks, and processes to enhance the bank’s overall risk posture. You’ll leverage advanced analytics, automation, and governance to develop and oversee credit risk solutions across the entire lending lifecycle, from customer acquisition and portfolio management to collections and recovery strategies.
Working closely with cross-functional teams reporting to the Head of Retail Credit Risk, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping risk strategy, embedding robust governance, and ensuring alignment with best practices in credit risk assessment. Your ability to translate
complex data into actionable insights will be instrumental in driving informed decision-making across the bank.
Key Responsibilities - Strategic Leadership: Shape and execute a comprehensive retail credit risk strategy, covering acquisitions, portfolio monitoring, and collections.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilise advanced analytics, predictive modelling, and machine learning techniques to improve credit assessment, risk scoring, and customer segmentation.
- Process Optimisation & Automation: Drive the adoption of automated decisioning technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and speed in credit processes.
- Risk Governance & Compliance: Establish and maintain a robust governance framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Portfolio Insights & Reporting: Develop risk analytics dashboards and reports to monitor portfolio health, delinquency trends, and emerging risks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with underwriting, collections, finance, customer value management, and external partners to enhance risk strategies.
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Qualifications & Experience
Industry Experience: 10+ years in the financial services industry, with at least 7 years in a specialised credit risk management role (
Retail and Unsecured Lending).Technical Expertise: - Strong experience in financial modelling, data analytics, and risk modelling using SAS, SQL, R, Python, or VBA.
- Proven ability to develop and manage credit scoring models, automation tools, and decisioning systems.
- Experience in portfolio segmentation, customer risk profiling, and stress testing methodologies.
Strategic & Operational Knowledge: - Expertise in developing end-to-end credit risk strategies, covering acquisitions, active portfolio management, and collections.
- Ability to integrate alternative data sources and new risk methodologies into credit decisioning frameworks.
- Understanding of credit risk regulations, Basel frameworks, and best practices in retail lending.
Leadership & Innovation: - Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and implement transformational risk management initiatives.
- Experience in automating risk processes to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
Educational Background: - An advanced degree in finance, economics, statistics, data science, or a related field is preferred.
