As a Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for assessing and preparing the creditworthiness or submissions of files for individuals and businesses, ensuring sound lending decisions that align with the bank’s risk appetite and growth objectives. Your role will support the bank’s lending portfolio across multiple segments, including retail, SME, and corporate banking, by providing insightful financial analysis and risk assessments to drive responsible lending and business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Credit assessment and risk analysis
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, including new requests, changed requests, refinancing and annual due diligence.
- Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to relationship managers, especially findings that involve a borrower’s ability to repay.
- Support the relationship manager in preparing assessments.
- Keep up to date with the company’s lending protocols.
- Reconcile credit files and identify discrepancies and variances.
- Develop and prepare spreadsheets and models to support analysis of new and existing credit applications.
Portfolio monitoring and risk management
- Continuously monitor and review the bank’s loan portfolio to identify potential credit risks.
- Work with relationship managers and other stakeholders to mitigate risk exposures and enhance loan performance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of risk management strategies.
Compliance and reporting
- Ensure all credit decisions comply with internal policies, prudential guidelines and regulatory frameworks.
- Prepare detailed credit reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for senior management.
- Support external and internal audit processes related to credit risk and lending.
Stakeholder engagement and customer support
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure tailored financing solutions for clients.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to customers to help them make informed borrowing decisions.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, including Risk, Operations, and Legal, to ensure smooth lending processes.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field is dedsirable but not essential.
- 5 (+) years’ experience in credit analysis, lending, or risk assessment within banking or financial services.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, loan structuring and credit risk management.
- Familiarity with prudential standards, regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements.
- Driver’s licence (preferred)
