The Job ~ Are you skilled at driving large-scale corporate banking transactions?
In the dynamic world of sizeable transactions—particularly in sectors like infrastructure, agriculture, and manufacturing, often reaching around K100 million—your expertise in debt funding, lease financing, corporate financing, and refinancing is crucial. We're seeking someone who understands the complexities of these transactions and can navigate them through credit to secure approvals.
As a key member of the Corporate Finance team, you will originate and structure these substantial financial transactions, provide strategic insights, and build relationships with new and existing corporate clients. Your role will include market analysis, deal screening, financial modelling, risk analysis, and managing stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Advisory, the role will be responsible for making credit recommendations and seeking approvals for lending transactions.
- Assist in the origination of a pipeline of corporate finance transactions and screen lending opportunities through marketing, analytics, and deal screening.
- Undertake and manage the necessary financial modelling, due diligence, risk analysis and mitigation in the structuring of loans, and/or equity investments.
- Assign Internal Credit Ratings; establish and manage credit risk limits in accordance with the risk appetite established by the Board; monitor and report on credit risk exposures on a regular basis.
- Support or lead the internal approvals process including interface with credit, legal and other teams as well as management and the Board.
- Drive substantial corporate transactions that shape the financial landscape of this institution and contribute to its growth.
Technical Capabilities: - 7 years' extensive experience in the financial industry, showcasing expertise in structured debt, project finance, M&A, syndications and capital markets in corporate lending roles with proven networks for business growth.
- Demonstrated proficiency in loan structures, transaction executions, and financial modelling, complemented by strong technical knowledge.
- Proven track record in transaction origination, risk analysis, and effective communication, both written and verbal.
- Well-equipped to thrive in fast-paced environments, displaying excellent time management skills and a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated ability to manage demanding portfolios, execute challenging deals, and contribute strategically to corporate lending initiatives, while fostering cultural diversity within teams.
- Degree or postgraduate qualified from a top-tier school in accounting or finance.
- Experience in Credit risk and Relationship Management gained from within the mid-market commercial or corporate banking segments.
- Extensive knowledge of business markets and deal structuring skills is second to none.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with individuals at all levels.
