Bookshop and Café Manager

The Organisation:

Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is owned and operated by the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The institution is accredited to the Adventist Accreditation Association, an international denominational authority for all tertiary and graduate educational programs and institutions owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities. The main campus is located on the pristine Koiari Park, 14 miles outside Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The institution was established in 1984. Since then, it has grown from a college of 20 students, to a university of over 1000 students from across the Pacific.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Bookshop and Café Manager to join our team. The Bookshop and Café Manager will be responsible to provide oversight to the selection and purchase of books, stationery, gifts, and university merchandise; managing inventory and sales; supervising staff and workline students; and ensuring that the bookstore and the management of the café to provide a welcoming and efficient environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a similar setting with familiarity with Attache ‘accounting software to be viewed very favourably.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Attache’), as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Have a high level of attention to detail and ability to provide timely and accurate reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a team.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with staff, students and visitors
  • proven track record of retail and café management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
