About the role

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Asset Protection Officer (APO). An APO’s role is to maintain security across the mine site and operations by preventing, intervening and reporting of breaches of safety and security. A high level of competence and tenacity is required with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.

In this role, you will;

• Maintain Security across the Mining Operations
• Carry out tasks as directed by the Chief Duty Officer or Superintendent
• Must be able to communicate effectively with Security Control during shifts
• Maintain production by responding to security threats and incidents
• Maintain security and safety for all personnel and company property
• Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all the relevant NPL policies & procedures

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences

• Have a minimum of Grade 10 Certificate or higher
• Have a minimum of 6 years Police/Military experience
• Be Physically fit and able to walk on your feet for extended periods
• Be prepared to work a 12-hour day/ night shift in all weather conditions
• Provide an original copy of verified Military or Police discharge order / signal
• Be able to drive a manual vehicle confidently and have a valid PNG Drivers license
• Have a very good understanding of working safely
• Can work unsupervised or as part of a team
• Have sound knowledge of security procedures with wide ranging experience in effective Security Command, Control and Communication, Detention Procedures, Arrest Procedures, Human Rights Laws, Security Search and Use of Force principles

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off, they must reside in Mt Hagen, Lae or Port Moresby. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
