SAFETY SPECIALIST REPORTING
The Safety Management Systems Department is seeking for an experienced Safety Specialist Reporting based in Port Moresby. Reporting directly to the Manager Safety Systems, the successful incumbent will be responsible for coordinating all safety and quality related occurrences.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Foster positive safety culture within the area of responsibility and demonstrating commitment to the company’s safety policy.
- Pursue corporate strategy and quality objectives daily.
- Support the management team implement company’s safety management plan.
- Execute specific duties in accordance with Section 1.6.6 of SMS Manual: initial version:
- Maintain a consolidated training register.
- Refer all occurrence reports to the Manager Safety Systems to decide for urgent action
- Determine what occurrences are notifiable according to CASA Part 12, recording the Part 12 criteria in the SMS, and sending notification to AIC, CASA PNG and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
- Participate in the HRA process and Safety Assessments.
- Conduct audits as allocated in the audit schedule.
- Assist with Safety Investigations as required by the Manager Safety Systems.
- Generate safety reports as requested by the Manager or other Safety Systems Team members
- Assist with SMS Induction and refresher training.
- Escalate deficiencies to the Manager Safety Systems.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- Tertiary qualification in business, communications, science or a related field.
- Prior experience in a safety or quality related role.
- 3 years’ experience in a corporate work environment or 2 years in an aviation organization.
- A high level of computer literacy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be willing to travel when required.
