REVENUE OPTIMIZATION MANAGER
We are pleased to announce an open vacancy exists in our Commercial Department for a qualified and experienced Revenue Optimization Manager.
Based in Port Moresby, this position will report to the GM Commercial according to the specific description outlined below.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The primary objective of a Revenue Optimization Manager is to maximize the overall revenue of an airline through effective management of pricing, inventory, and yield strategies. This role aims to balance the need for attracting passengers with competitive pricing while ensuring efficient use of available resources and maintaining profitability.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement effective pricing strategies considering market conditions, competitor pricing, and demand patterns across all channels.
- Analyze pricing data to identify opportunities for adjustments and optimization across all channels.
- Execution of VRS fare filing and distribution of fares and fare changes.
- External fares filing in ATPCO and managing communication.
- Manage and file wholesale fares and communicate to agents.
- Maintain changes in taxes and surcharge strategy and application for carrier in line with market dynamics across all channels.
- Manage seat inventory and allocation across different fare classes to optimize revenue potential.
- Implement strategies to prevent overbooking issues and underutilization of available inventory.
- Design and execute yield management strategies to maximize revenue yield per seat through dynamic pricing and inventory control.
- Monitor and adjust strategies based on demand fluctuations and market trends.
- Utilize data analytics and forecasting tools to analyze historical data, predict future demand, and make informed decisions to optimize revenue.
- Generate regular reports and insights to inform pricing and revenue management strategies.
- Monitor competitors' pricing strategies, market positioning, and industry trends to adjust and enhance the airline's revenue management strategies.
- Conduct regular benchmarking to ensure competitiveness in the market.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Network Planning, and Operations teams to align revenue strategies with broader business objectives and issues.
- Provide approvals for competitive group quotes and discounting approvals to secure revenue
- Foster a culture of open communication and teamwork across departments.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics related to revenue optimization.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on the effectiveness of revenue management strategies and propose adjustments as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in revenue optimization practices.
- Proactively seek ways to enhance revenue management capabilities and adapt to industry changes.
- Provide training and guidance to team members involved in pricing, inventory, and yield management.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and share knowledge with the team.
- Ensure that all revenue management strategies and practices comply with national and international regulations and industry standards.
- Make strategic decisions about pricing, inventory allocation, and yield management based on a thorough understanding of market dynamics and business objectives.
- Collaborate with the network planning team to ensure that route planning and scheduling align with revenue optimization goals.
- Work closely with the Commercial revenue management department to align revenue strategies with PNG Air’s financial goals, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Maintain awareness of customer preferences and behavior by collaborating with customer service teams and leveraging customer feedback.
- Collaborate with alliance and codeshare partners to align strategies, share data, and enhance overall network optimization.
- Direct interface proving relationship management.
- Manage business rules, and guidelines for all revenue management related software and subscriptions
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Aviation Management, or a related field. A Master's degree (MBA or MSc) is often preferred but not always mandatory.
- Significant experience in the airline industry, preferably in roles related to revenue management, pricing, or analytics.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in revenue optimization, with a track record of success in maximizing revenue and implementing effective strategies.
- Proficiency in revenue management systems and tools, such as Aviator, or similar systems.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and statistical modeling, using tools like Excel, or other relevant software
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience in demand forecasting, price elasticity modeling, and statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders, including senior management, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and implement innovative revenue management strategies.
- Strategic thinking to align revenue optimization goals with overall business objectives.
